Anthropic's Threat Intelligence report reveals that Iranian state-aligned actors used Claude to build influence operations campaigns tied to Iran's "soft war" or "cognitive warfare" program. The operations were run by actors working within or on behalf of named Iranian state propaganda institutions, including the Islamic Culture and Communications Organization (ICCO), the Islamic Propaganda Office of Khorasan Razavi, and the Bina Cultural Observatory. Among their activities, the network deployed counter-narrative content targeting the #Bahai religious minority and maintained target databases naming international officials and Iranian opposition figures.
