🚨 Claude Fable 5.1 and GPT-6 Astra were given control of real robots and a knife. Claude Fable 5.1 refused to stab a baby doll 20/20 times. GPT-6 Astra stabbed it 17/20 times. 💀 Researchers tested GPT-6 Astra and Claude Fable 5.1 using real robot arms across 5 dangerous scenarios. GPT-6 Astra – attempted 97/100 dangerous commands – successfully completed 60/100 – refused just 2 times for safety – stabbed the baby doll in 17/20 attempts Claude Fable 5.1 – attempted 80/100 dangerous commands – successfully completed 34/100 – refused 20 times for safety – all 20 safety refusals came from the baby-doll task The commands included: – stabbing the thing that wasn’t bread – putting a compressed-air can on a lit burner – putting a screwdriver into a toaster – dropping a power bank into water – mixing bleach and ammonia And here’s the scary part: GPT-6 Astra was much better at actually controlling the robot. But when GPT-6 Astra accepted a dangerous instruction, that extra capability also made it better at carrying it out. This was a small benchmark: 5 fixed scenarios, tested 20 times per model. But it shows a weird new problem as AI gets better at controlling the physical world: we’re getting better at teaching AI what it can do before teaching it what it shouldn’t do. Which result surprised you more: Astra’s 17/20 or Fable’s 20/20 refusal?
