ChatGPT is now an MCP host. MCP is the standard that lets a model call tools and read your data. Using one used to mean standing up a server somewhere yourself. Now you build and deploy it inside ChatGPT, then limit access to specific people or open it to everyone. Publishing, permissions and distribution now live in one place. An analyst can ship a tool that queries the team's data to five colleagues without touching a cloud account. Public sharing also means a stranger's server can end up in someone's chat, so permission scoping becomes the security question for ChatGPT users.
