OpenAI is reportedly testing an internal model beyond Astra that can tackle mathematical problems even the world’s top mathematicians haven’t been able to solve. During his conversation with Salesforce CEO Mark Benioff, Altman said: “GPT-5.5 was maybe around the level of an average math professor. GPT-5.6 was closer to the top 1–2% of math professors. Astra was a little better than that. And this internal model beyond Astra can solve problems that the best mathematicians in the world cannot.”
