OpenAI paused new Pro x20 signups right after Astra launched, saying it was about capacity. Now, they've opened free Pro level access to clinicians. Same pattern as researchers earlier this year. Free access first, huge research data collected, then they announced solving long standing math problems, even one at Millennium Prize level. Free access is never just charity. Clinician chats mean real patient cases, real medical reasoning, real world knowledge that no dataset can copy. That kind of data is worth far more than any subscription fee. OpenAI is not being generous here, they are collecting knowledge money cannot buy.
