Cheap AI code review works—until the diff touches authentication. Entelligence tested GPT-5.6 Luna and GPT-6 Astra on 50 production pull requests. Luna cost $0.20 for the entire run. Astra cost $5.66. For data and logic bugs, Luna found 39 compared with Astra’s 47. For concurrency bugs, it found 10 compared with 13. But security exposed the real gap: Luna found only 9 of 24 verified security bugs. Astra found 19. Luna was also noisier, with 74% precision versus Astra’s 96%. You don’t need a frontier model reviewing every routine change. But authentication, permissions, and security-sensitive code are terrible places to optimize for the cheapest token.
