GPT- 6 Astra Detailed post who want to know about this capabilities 🧠 What does “Astra agent” mean? Think of it like this: Normal ChatGPT You → AI → answer An AI agent is more like: You → AI → plans → uses tools → observes result → decides next action → continues → achieves goal Now imagine 50 or 100 copies of that type of agent, each controlling a different character inside a simulated world. For example: Agent #1 = farmer Agent #2 = builder Agent #3 = doctor Agent #4 = hunter Agent #5 = engineer Agent #6 = trader Each agent has its own objective, memory/context and observations of the simulated environment. They can potentially decide: “We need food.” Agent A might say: “I’ll hunt.” Agent B: “I’ll build a shelter.” Agent C: “I’ll gather wood.” Agent D: “I’ll protect the group.” That’s the basic idea behind multi-agent AI. Why Unreal Engine? Unreal Engine provides the virtual world. Think of it as giving the AI a video game to live inside. The environment can contain: World ↓ 🏠 buildings 🌳 trees 🌊 water 🔥 fire 🍎 food 👥 AI humans 🌦️ weather ⏰ time/day-night cycle The AI agents can observe that environment and interact with it. OpenAI specifically says Astra can work with software and even create/use interactive environments; its launch material includes examples involving Unreal Engine and games. So the interesting part isn’t that Unreal Engine itself suddenly became intelligent. The intelligence comes from the AI agents controlling characters inside Unreal. One who created this simulation video went out for sometime but sudden voice is heard in this simulation. Then discovered that the AI characters had started talking to one another. But this needs an important clarification. It does not necessarily mean: “The AI became conscious and started talking on its own.” A much more likely technical explanation is: Agent A generates dialogue → text-to-speech converts it to audio → Unreal plays the audio → Agent B hears/receives the conversation → Agent B responds. So you could get something like: Agent A: “There’s not enough food for everyone.” Agent B: “I found some supplies near the river.” Agent C: “We should bring them back to the shelter.” Agent A: “Agreed. I’ll send two people.” And if those responses are converted to speech, a person outside the room could literally hear the virtual characters having a conversation. That’s still pretty remarkable, because the conversation wasn’t necessarily scripted line-by-line by the developer. 🤯 The really interesting part The experiment becomes much more powerful if the developer didn’t explicitly tell them: “You must say X to Agent B, then Agent B says Y.” Instead, the developer gives them a goal: “Survive.” Then the agents decide how to accomplish it. That is the transition from: Traditional game AI to something closer to AI simulation society. “The agents talked to each other” ✅ Technically plausible. “The agents developed their own behavior” ✅ Potentially plausible depending on the implementation.
