When I first started running my studio / freelancing, I basically had an operating cost of $0, things have really changed though... This is the Wenlaunch stack today: Claude Max Plan — $200/mo Most dedicated to coding work, I can't live without this anymore Cursor — $60/mo Grok Bot + Cursor, Has been great for repetitive tasks. Figma — ~$80–140/mo Still where a lot of the real design decisions happen, this is for the team. ChatGPT — $100/mo right now On this plan to try Astra for the month. Will be downgrading after. It's not living up to the hype for me. Magnific — $20/mo Stock imagery, image gen, and upscaling. Underrated. Quietly does a lot of heavy lifting. Granola — $14/mo Meeting notes that don’t disappear into Slack. Slack Connect — $9/mo How I talk to clients without drowning in email. Google Workspace — $75/mo Boring. Necessary. DocuSign — $105 (this month) Contracts. Not glamorous. Also on annual plans (so they don’t show up in the monthly bill the same way): Mobbin, Contra, Behance. Rough software stack: ~$560–710/mo depending on the month, before those yearly ones amortize in. AI alone is a few hundred now. It made the studio faster. It also made the bill bigger. Clients still don’t pay for the tools. They pay for taste, judgment, and knowing what to leave out. Curious what other solo / small studios are spending on this stuff. Is this normal nowadays?
