tesla spent 9 years and millions of dollars on the flying roadster. i just reverse engineered how it flies with opus 5.5 for $0.94 tesla builds the car. opus 5.5 reads the video. i pay for the tokens 105 s launch video → 50 HUD frames → opus 5.5 → 1 spec of how it flies → $0.94 the HUD is the whole spec. every 0.5 s it prints downforce, pitch and altitude, so opus 5.5 never needs a line of tesla's code first find: at 0 s the car presses 0.6 kg into the ramp. at 28 s it presses 4,706 kg. that's 7,843x, and it comes from fans, not air second find: pitch locks at 170° for 9.5 s, 69 ft up. the car hangs upside down and still climbs 5.1 ft third find: off the ramp at 66 ft, a 68 ft peak, back on the ground about 2.8 s later i did the math on the bill: 50 frames at ~1,600 tokens is 80,000 in, plus 30,000 of prompts and 25,000 out. opus 5.5 charges $0.94, or $0.019 a frame $250,000 / $0.94 is 265,957x. their side took 9 years. mine took 1 evening and the money find: the trim without thrusters reserves at $50,000. the $200,000 gap buys about 250 kg of compressed air - $800 a kg the big mistake: asking opus 5.5 "how does it fly". you get a story. make it read every frame and you get numbers it even caught 1 number that doesn't fit - the HUD says 9 ft at 16.5 s while the wheels are already in the smoke opus 5.5 can't build the car. it can only read how it moves - tesla's 9 years are in the parts, not in the video setup took me 15 minutes: the video, ffmpeg pulling 1 frame every 0.5 s, opus 5.5 in claude code, and 1 question everyone watched the roadster fly. i read the dashboard for less than a dollar ↓
