I hired five workers into Grok Bot, gave the first one a single job: "Install your own brain", and never opened a terminal. The bill for the week was $11.40. The trick is one line in the docs everyone skips: every worker on your account shares one cloud computer. Files, browser, terminal, logins. So anything you install once is installed for every worker you will ever hire. I picked kimi-k3 as the engine: a million tokens of memory, $3 per million in, $0.30 when the context repeats. One message, no code: > Install Kimi Code CLI on this computer, config in the folder that survives rebuilds. > Base_url is the console my key came from, api_key via secure request, never the chat. > Model is kimi-k3. Run /status and read me back the model line. Do not proceed if it does not say kimi-k3 [1m]. It came back with kimi-k3 [1m]. Then I hired the rest. -> Day 1: SCOUT, CLERK, LEDGER, BUILDER and CHIEF walked in already thinking with the full million. Zero setup. -> Day 2: CLERK quoted a number it had not read anywhere. One rule went into the group: nothing moves between desks without a source and a read time. Unsourced bounces. -> Day 4: BUILDER got "analyze a hundred filings", handed it to Agent Swarm and came back with a sheet instead of a promise. -> Day 6: LEDGER cancelled nothing, but it drafted a cancel I had not asked for. I wrote four sentences into its charter: owns, done looks like, stops at. It has not touched money since. -> Day 9: LEDGER posted its first Friday list: $2,310 a month of subscriptions nobody had opened in 60 days. The best habit so far is the last line of every charter, STOPS AT. A worker never told what counts as one-way decides for itself, and it decides generously. Flat seats were $600 a month and forgot the first instruction by lunch. Five desks on a meter cost less than a coffee. Someone already installed the brain once and closed the laptop.
