DeepSeek V4.1 Flash hands-on tests and comparisons

CommandCode is raising DeepSeek V4.1 Flash 1017 usage credits from $80 to $100 for the next 24 hours, then reverting.

A user moved OpenCode's main model to DeepSeek V4.1 Flash 1017 and found the same file-edit task much faster, saying the free tier's speed makes paid models less appealing.

Dual DGX Spark test compares V4.1 Flash with GLM-5.3-Flash: 75 tok/s single-stream and 130 tok/s at 4-way, but ~210 GB weights plus ~94.4 GiB Engram tables per node leave less headroom than the author's 164 GB EXL3 setup.

Korean tech news site compiles the official specs: AAII intelligence score 45 at max reasoning (peer median 19), ~225 output tok/s, $0.30/$1.20 per million tokens, image input, 1M context, MIT-licensed weights for self-hosting and commercial use.

On ToneBench writing, 1017 ties GLM-5.3 Flash at #23/24 but costs $0.014 vs $0.022 per script, uses 17K vs 37K thinking tokens, and takes 1.3 vs 5.2 minutes.

The author says V4.1 Flash's scores are impressive, but the same model performs very differently across agent harnesses, and DeepSeek's real opportunity is reliable results at lower cost.

A user notes OpenCode replaced deepseek-v4.1-flash with the 1017 build under the same model ID, so existing configs already point to the new version.

A video runs DeepSeek V4.1 Flash and Claude Opus 5.5 on the same task to see whether the open-weight model has caught up again.

On OpenCode's free tier, DeepSeek V4.1 Flash, GLM 5.3 Flash and MiniMax M3.1 Flash retain no data and don't train on it, while Big Pickle, MiMo and Nemotron free versions log inputs for improvement.

LMSYS with NVIDIA and AMD launched SGLang Low-Latency Mode, giving DeepSeek V4.1 Flash 1.38x P90 speedup to 928 tok/s on GB300 and 1.56x to 516 tok/s on MI355X.

A video pits DeepSeek V4.1 Flash against Claude Opus 5.5 on the same task and asks which one wins.

Qoder is offering DeepSeek V4.1-Flash-1017 free until October 25, with agent capabilities and the knowledge base fully available on the free tier.
