Opus 5.5 vs Gemini 4 Argon: rocket catch video compared
On the same prompt, Gemini 4 Argon produced a clean static shot in 3 minutes for $0.19, while Claude Opus 5.5 took 15 minutes and $2.61 for a cinematic camera-move shot.
I pay for Google AI Pro, and Gemini 4 Argon isn't even in my AI Studio. A shame, because look what it built through the API in 3 minutes for $0.19. Claude Opus 5.5 took 15 minutes and $2.61 on the same prompt. Both caught the booster. The 14x bought Opus a camera operator. The prompt: a toy rocket on a desk under a lamp. You press LAUNCH, the top stage flies off, the booster comes back and the tower arms catch it. One shot each, nothing fixed afterwards, and the Opus cost is at API prices. Argon (top) keeps the camera still and the scene clean, and every step works. Opus (bottom) chases the rocket with the camera, blurs the bookshelf behind it and leaves the booster hanging in the arms inside its own smoke, like a shot from a film. Opus also needed the right effort setting. My first version of this prompt ran at high effort for 31 minutes without writing a file, and I stopped it. Medium is what shipped this one. On Pro, Argon only shows up in the Gemini chat. Building with it in AI Studio or Antigravity needs Ultra or a paid API key. Does anyone here actually pay for Ultra? Which one would you ship: the $0.19 one that works, or the $2.61 one that looks like a trailer? Both are live in the first reply if you want to press LAUNCH yourself.
