Sonnet 5 vs 5.5 on the same 3D jelly-slicing prompt
On the same prompt, Sonnet 5.5 took 2.5x longer and cost 6x more than Sonnet 5, but its 3D scene showed clearly better depth of field, lighting and water droplet detail.
Sonnet 5 vs Sonnet 5.5. Same prompt, and the price gap is 6x 👀 The task: a 3D scene of a knife slicing through translucent jelly. Timer and cost counter run live. Sonnet 5: 4m 58s and $0.46 Sonnet 5.5: 12m 41s and $2.85 The second model thought 2.5x longer and cost 6x more. But look at the result: depth , lighting, water droplets on the surface. Sonnet 5 is clean, just simpler. My take: the cheap one is enough for a draft. For the final version, I'd pay extra. What would you pick: fast and cheap, or slow and beautiful? 👇 Prompt in the first reply. Run it yourself and compare
