Opus 5.5 vs Haiku 5.5: same Rubik's cube animation prompt
The same prompt asked both models for a 15-second 3D Rubik's cube scramble-and-solve: Opus cost $2.40 and 13 minutes with real layer turns, while Haiku cost 2 cents and 1 minute but produced a two-layer cube with pieces sliding out of place.
Claude Opus 5.5 and Haiku 5.5 got the same prompt: a Rubik's cube on a dark wooden desk scrambles itself with real layer turns, then solves itself back move by move until every face is one color. Real 3D, 15 seconds. Opus: $2.40, 13 minutes. Haiku: 2 cents, 1 minute. One shot each, zero edits. Opus put a pencil on the desk, turned real layers under a hard lamp and landed on clean solid faces. Haiku built a cube that is only two layers tall. Pieces slide out of place mid-turn, and it still ends up "solved". 102x the price. Top or bottom?
