Opus 5.5 animates a robot dog in plain JavaScript and SVG
Opus 5.5 planned the gait, leg solving and fall recovery, then rendered a 26-part robot dog teardown animation in plain JavaScript and SVG with no 3D engine.
still running experiments with claude opus 5.5. now it's a robot dog that gets back up. i don't get why every robotics class isn't using this yet. paws first, legs after. here's how it came together: - step 1: 4 legs, 3 motors each: hip roll, hip pitch and a knee motor up at the hip that folds the knee through a rod - step 2: a trot in diagonal pairs, 0.62 s a cycle: each foot swings for 0.27 s and stands for the rest - step 3: a step up: the foot rises before it moves over the edge, and the body stays level the whole climb - step 4: a fall: it tips over the line through its far feet, and those feet stay planted while it rolls back up - step 5: 5 stereo camera pairs drawn as cones around the body - step 6: the panels off, 26 parts pulled out, then all of it back where it started who does what: > claude opus 5.5: the foot plans, the leg solving, the fall, the teardown > plain javascript + svg: no 3d engine, every part shaded and sorted back to front in code > me: the tour order, testing and every round of feedback 32.5 kg, 12 joints and 5 pairs of eyes, the same as the real Spot from Boston Dynamics, in 26 parts you can pull apart yourself. the method behind it is in the article below 👇
