Claude and ChatGPT compared on the same 3D tsunami animation prompt
Given the same prompt, Opus 5.5 and ChatGPT each generated a Three.js video of a tsunami hitting a town, with Claude delivering a more cinematic result at $2.72 less.
I gave Claude and ChatGPT the same job: build a cinematic 3D tsunami hitting a Mediterranean town. One HTML file, pure Three.js, no assets. Top: Claude Opus 5.5, $10.53 Bottom: ChatGPT, $13.25 What each one delivered: Claude → the sea pulls back and boats get stranded on the exposed seabed → the wave knocks the lighthouse over and the lamp goes out → houses come apart and the debris floats on the real water surface → slow-motion impact, then a flooded aftermath → export buttons for 16:9, 4:5 and 9:16, plus a key to hide the UI for recording ChatGPT → ran on the first try, with no broken imports this time → the wave and the flood both work → a heavy pink haze and huge hills cover half the frame → skipped the aspect-ratio buttons and the hide-UI key the prompt asked for Claude came out $2.72 cheaper and gave the more cinematic result.
