Grok Bot quietly using Opus 5.5 and burning credits draws complaints
A user found Grok Bot was calling Opus 5.5 and consuming credits with no way to disable it or restrict it to Grok models, and is considering pausing use after a large bill.
Caught that last night after a hefty bill that Grok Bots were using Opus 5.5 and ripping through my credits… no way to turn this off or only use Grok models? I specifically do not use Anthropic models for a variety of reasons… to not be able to choose which models you want to use with Grok Bot is a big mistake. Getting a fat bill for Anthropic model usage when I thought I was using Grok 4.7 kinda pissed me off. Makes me want to pause what I’m doing with them until this issue is resolved. Under the usage yesterday it showed which models were being used, now just says grok bot default…
