Opus 5.5 turns a single screenshot into an 8-second launch video
The author says Opus 5.5 built a local tool called Launch Studio from one landing-page screenshot that plans shots, renders an 8-second 1920x1080 60fps promo, and re-renders after checking its own frames.
Opus 5.5 is f*cking insane. It just made an amazing motion video from a single screenshot. You can sell videos like this to companies and make money from it. Save the prompt below before I delete this post: Build a local tool called "Launch Studio" that turns one landing-page screenshot into an 8-second launch video (1920x1080, 60fps, 480 frames). WHAT IT DOES Run: node studio.js shot.png --brand "Pace". It reads the screenshot like a motion designer, plans 4 shots, rebuilds the page as animated layers in code, renders an MP4 with headless Chromium, checks its own frames, and re-renders until every check passes. 1. PROJECT SETUP - Node 20+, TypeScript, React 18, Vite, Playwright (Chromium), ffmpeg on PATH. No other dependencies. - Files: studio.js (CLI), src/scene.tsx, src/layers/*.tsx, src/spring.ts, src/timeline.ts, render.ts, qa.ts, out/. - Fonts load from local @fontsource packages, never from a CDN, so every render is identical. 2. READ THE SCREENSHOT - Open the PNG with sharp and look at it before writing any code. - List every element as JSON in out/elements.json: { id, type, x, y, w, h, confidence }. Types: nav, headline, subhead, cta, product_ui, logos, grid. - Palette: sample the pixels and extract 5 hex colors (page, ink, accent, muted, card) into out/palette.json. Never guess a color you can sample. - Type: estimate family, weight, size and letter-spacing for headline, body and buttons. Match to the closest @fontsource font and say if you're unsure. - Detect the theme (dark or light), the column grid and the outer margin. - Print a table of all of this before moving on. 3. STORYBOARD - Write out/storyboard.json with exactly 4 shots that add up to 8.0s: - shot 1 "promise" (0.0s to 2.4s): the headline rises in word by word, the subhead fades in after it. - shot 2 "action" (2.4s to 3.6s): a cursor enters, finds the main CTA, presses it (scale 0.96 then back). - shot 3 "proof" (3.6s to 5.5s): the camera pushes into the product UI, zoom 1.0 to 1.7, centered on its bounding box. - shot 4 "brand" (5.5s to 8.0s): the logos row slides up, then an end card with the brand name, one-line promise and CTA. 4. LAYERS - One React component per layer in src/layers/: Nav, Headline, Subhead, Cta, Cursor, Product, Camera, Logos, EndCard. - Rebuild each one from the screenshot in HTML/CSS at its exact position and size. Do not paste the screenshot itself as an image, except as a hidden reference for QA. - Every layer is a pure function of time: ({ t }) => JSX. No useState, no useEffect, no CSS transitions or @keyframes, no setTimeout, no http://Date.now(). - src/timeline.ts defines 9 tracks with clips { layer, start, end }. Export it so the timeline can be printed. 5. MOTION RULES - src/spring.ts: one critically damped spring, spring(t, start, duration) returns 0 to 1. Every move uses it. No other easing curves. - Text moves at most 24px. Opacity always comes in with the move, never alone. - Camera moves only in shot 3 and the end card. Nothing else scales above 1.0. - No frame sits still for more than 0.3s, except the last 0.6s on the end card. - Motion should feel calm and expensive: fewer, bigger moves. 6. RENDER - src/scene.tsx exposes window.render = (t) => renders every layer at time t and resolves when fonts and layout are ready. - render.ts: launch Playwright Chromium headless at 1920x1080, deviceScaleFactor 1. For frame i from 0 to 479: await page.evaluate(t => window.render(t), i / 60), then page.screenshot({ type: "png" }). - Pipe frames into ffmpeg: -f image2pipe -framerate 60 -i - -c:v libx264 -pix_fmt yuv420p -crf 18 -preset slow -movflags +faststart out/[brand]_launch.mp4. - Log progress every 60 frames. 7. QA (runs after every render) - qa.ts exports a contact sheet: one frame every 0.5s, tiled 4 per row, saved as out/contact_sheet.png. - Check every frame and print pass or fail for each: - all text inside a 120px safe margin - text contrast at least 4.5:1 against its background - no dead time over 0.3s (compare frame pixel diffs) - one spring curve only (search the source for other easing) - colors match out/palette.json within a delta E of 3 - brand name visible on the last frame - If any check fails, fix the layer that caused it and render again. Max 3 passes, then stop and tell me what's still failing. 8. QUALITY RULES - Never invent elements, copy or logos that aren't in the screenshot. - No stock footage, stock icons or placeholder text anywhere. - Same input must give the same output: no randomness, no network calls during render. - Keep every file under 150 lines. Plain, readable code. At the end, give me: the MP4 path, the contact sheet, the storyboard, the QA results, the commands to re-render with a new screenshot, and one line on what you'd change for a 15-second cut.
