Ten days with Grok Bot: why I switched from openclaw
After six months on openclaw, the author moved daily life management to Grok Bot, citing voice calls, multi-threaded chats and multi-agent collaboration as the deciding factors.
For the past 6 months openclaw has been my go-to agent running huge parts of my daily life. I forced myself to give grok bot a try for the last 10 days and I've been blown away. I really thought this would be another failed attempt to try a new bot. But grok bot got me, I'm hooked, I've moved everything over. Here's what changed my mind: (1) Voice calls Being able to have a conversation with my bots is such a natural way to work with them. I'd previously loved using codex's voice mode but grok bot takes it to another level because you're talking to your agents with all of your context. I've come to associate different voices with my different bots. And I'm at a point now where I'm running daily standups with my bots to review what's been done, unblock, and plan what's next, all via voice. (2) Multi-threaded conversations The way grok bot handles multiple threads in the same conversation is really impressive. You know when you're texting a friend and you've got a few topics going at once, so you're replying to one while they're replying to another? Grok bot can chat like that. Going multi-threaded makes chat feel far more natural. It also removes the urge to create a duplicate agent just to have a second thread going. (3) Multi-agent collaboration The way that my different bots work with each other kinda blew my mind the first time I saw it. My main agent along with a team of specialists will often collaborate to get a job done. For example, one agent that triages my inbox will collaborate with other specialist agents to make a decision about whether to raise the email to me immediately, include it in my daily standup, or archive it. Specialization makes problems easy to diagnose and the way agents collaborate massively reduces the amount of noise I have to process. In many ways, working with my bots feels like working with a team of humans. (4) Harness x model This is the one I was most anxious about. I love openclaw's openness. The ability to select my own model, thinking mode, speed, etc is what kept me with openclaw for so long. But I have to say, whatever the grok bot team is doing just feels right. I get quick answers to simple questions and well thought through answers to more complex problems. And, when writing code, my bots will delegate to cursor, which gives the control needed for the most complex scenarios. Kudos to the grok bot team. Now it’s time to do daily standup with my agents.
