Users hope Opus 5.5 and GPT-6 Sol make frontier models affordable again
The poster complains that GPT-6 Astra and Fable 5.1 quotas run out by midweek because of their $10 input and $50 output pricing, and argues the Sol and Opus tiers are where OpenAI and Anthropic actually compete on price.
Opus 5.5 and GPT 6 Sol are coming and we might finally get affordable frontier models again. Using GPT 6 Astra and Fable 5.1 has honestly been terrible. Not the models. The limits. Both are $10 in and $50 out and my accounts are dead by Wednesday every single week. The two best models in the world and nobody can actually run them. That is why these two releases matter more than anything else this year. A frontier model normal people can afford changes everything. The Sol tier and the Opus tier are where OpenAI and Anthropic actually compete on price. The frontier is about to get affordable again. It cannot come fast enough.
