Release pace makes "best model" expire in two weeks, one user says
The poster says GPT-6 Sol and Luna cut errors in half and cost 50% less, with Luna matching GPT-5.6 Sol at 1% of the cost, but the cadence is so fast that the best model is outdated within two weeks.
The AI model release cycle is getting exhausting. GPT-6 Sol and GPT-6 Luna just dropped. Half the errors. 50% cheaper. Luna matches GPT-5.6 Sol at 1% of the cost. Cool. Great. Except I feel like I just switched my entire workflow to something last week and now there's already something better. I use these models every single day. And at this point I genuinely can't keep up. It's not a flex, it's a problem. By the time you actually figure out which model is best for your specific use case, there's a new one and the calculus changes completely. OpenAI, Anthropic, Google... they're all doing it. The release cadence is so aggressive now that "best model available" has basically become a meaningless phrase. It expires in like two weeks. At some point you just pick something and stop optimizing because the optimization never ends.
