GPT-6 Sol naming questioned as Luna regresses over GPT-5.6, one user says
A user notes GPT-6 Sol is cheaper than Terra and reasonably priced, but only a small gain over GPT-5.6 Sol, while GPT-6 Luna is a regression, and questions OpenAI's naming.
GPT-6 Sol is cheaper than Terra, both before and after the price cut. And relative to its price, it’s actually not that bad. It’s also better and cheaper than GPT-5.6 Terra on the Artificial Analysis Intelligence Index. The negative hype comes from the fact that they called it GPT-6 Sol, and GPT-6 Sol isn’t a big improvement over GPT-5.6 Sol. With GPT-6 Luna, it’s actually even a regression. Should OpenAI have called the models GPT-6 Terra and something similar, like GPT-6 Humus, instead of GPT-6 Sol and GPT-6 Luna?
