Sol, Luna and Opus 5.5 got better and cheaper, rebutting the 'smarter means pricier' claim
A post argues GPT-6 Sol, Luna and Opus 5.5 all improved while getting cheaper, with Luna already down 80%, and suggests OpenAI's $500 ProMax tier reflects high running costs.
“Intelligence is getting too advanced, so it needs to cost more.” That argument doesn’t really hold up. GPT-6 Sol, Luna, and Opus 5.5 all got BETTER while also getting CHEAPER, and Luna had already seen an 80% price cut before that. Intelligence is getting more capable and cheaper at the same time. That’s called EFFICIENCY. So if OpenAI’s ProMax plan really costs $500, then the most obvious explanation is that their Bot is going to be insanely expensive to run. (Or maybe they’re already thinking about making some absolute monster of a model available, possibly something built from part of the “Bel” architecture... who knows)
