GPT-6 Astra in Practice: Tests, Use Cases, and Feedback

A comparison scorecard shows Gemini 4 Argon leading on legal, finance and long-document tasks, while GPT-6 Astra wins software engineering and computer use and Claude Opus 5.5 wins terminal coding.

DeepLearning.AI's weekly newsletter reports that Gemini 4 Argon has a 15% hallucination rate on AA-Omniscience, far below GPT-6 Astra's 51%, though it is currently limited to Google's cybersecurity defenders.

Opus 5.5, GPT-6 Astra and Gemini 4 Argon were given the same prompt to build a 3D pagoda, with the key test being whether they get the structural detail right that the central pillar runs through all five stories without bearing their weight.

On 105 real bugs that frontier models missed, GPT-6 Astra scored 45.0 to lead, while Muse Wonder 1.0 fell short of its marketing in hands-on testing.

Given the same animal-morphing concept, GPT-6 Astra and Opus 5.5 each wrote prompts, and the resulting videos are compared side by side.

The two models reverse-engineered and rewrote Doom's rendering engine pixel-for-pixel identically, passing all 48 unseen tests, and the agent even found an error in the author's own review.

A developer shares a roughly 6,000 yuan monthly AI subscription stack, having cut ChatGPT from $200 to $100 because Claude Opus 5.5 is so strong, while still using GPT-6.1 Sol for PR automation, ops and backend optimization.

Open SWE was tested on 973 threads with per-thread model routing, dropping median cost from $2.61 to $0.94 with no significant difference in merged-PR rate.

A general prompt tells agents like Astra and Opus 5.5 to fully trace dependencies and side effects before editing, with no code changes until the map is manually approved.

A seven-layer toolchain for turning company docs into a recallable knowledge base: parsing, chunking, vector store, graph retrieval, memory, evaluation and tracing, with the model swappable at any time.
