GPT-6 Astra in Practice: Tests, Use Cases, and Feedback

A user complains that GPT-6 Astra has started to degrade, stopping before finishing work, which they say did not happen before.

The author says Astra is more sensitive to instructions buried in skills and AGENTSmd, so users should audit global and project instructions, permissions and completion rules before adding new ones.

A user reports that medium thinking depth for GPT-6 Astra in Codex is more efficient and smarter than the highest setting, drains quota more slowly, and works without spawning excessive agents.

A video post lists Astra's ARC-AGI-3, open math problem, zero-day vulnerability and 72.6% OSWorld results, and says developers still cannot fully understand its reasoning.

A Japanese long post breaks down Astra's benchmarks: it still loses to Claude on pure intelligence, but leads AutomationBench and OSWorld 2.0 by wide margins, and jumps from 62.7% to 99.9% on ARC-AGI-3 with a different harness.

thsottiaux says he is looking at a 28-page deck where Codex keeps track of each individual launch, and thanks the team and Astra.

He says the ceiling is high but the model is inconsistent, while Fable 5.1 wins by simply doing what you ask.

An OpenAI employee gives examples of what he wants Astra to do: cancel unneeded subscriptions, negotiate internet and electricity bills, and remind him every three weeks to buy peonies for his wife.

OpenAI announced a usage reset for everyone so users can make the most of Astra this week.

The essay argues AI is grown rather than designed, that chain-of-thought monitoring is thinning, and that GPT-6 Astra aligns better than GPT-5.6 Sol but may not outpace growing intelligence.

A user lists Astra's rough edges in Codex and ChatGPT Work, including fast quota consumption, capacity errors, and safety checks interrupting legitimate coding work.

A solo developer used GPT-6 Astra with Codex and Blender MCP to generate reference art from a concept paragraph, then model and texture every asset at 60fps in 45 minutes for a few percent of quota.
