Opus 5.5 writes 105 lines of JS to render a starling murmuration
Opus 5.5 wrote 105 lines of JavaScript simulating 10,000 starlings and a falcon, drawing each frame itself and piping them into ffmpeg, rendering 15 seconds of video in 31 seconds.
Claude Opus 5.5 wrote a starling murmuration in 105 lines of JavaScript. 10,000 birds and one falcon. No libraries, no image files. Every bird follows three rules: match your neighbours' speed, drift toward them, don't collide. The falcon cutting through is what makes the flock ripple. The script draws every pixel itself and pipes the frames straight into ffmpeg. 15 seconds of video render in 31 seconds on my Mac. First version was too thin to see against the sky. One fix: tighter flock, lower in the frame, more birds.
