Gemini 4 Pro / Flash: benchmarks, hands-on tests and leaks

A joking post captures the community's expectation that Gemini 4 Argon launches today, with a jab at Google if it doesn't.

Gemini 4 Argon is said to open to Google AI Ultra subscribers today, with Antigravity CLI 1.3.4 adding low, medium and high Argon tiers and the Gemini app folding its Spark agent into the main chat.

LuminaBench says AlphaEvolve has been updated to Gemini 4 Argon, indicating the codenamed model has reached Google's internal tooling.

A roundup says Argon launches today at $4/$20 globally, $2/$10 for Flex/Batch and $0.20 cached input, rolling out first to paid API customers and AI Ultra subscribers with a focus on coding and creative writing.

A post says Google is vaguely teasing Gemini 4 Argon, claiming performance on par with Sonnet 5.5 and Opus 5.5, and that the author plans to test it.

The Gemini 4 Argon model ID now appears in the Antigravity desktop app and CLI, with a leak suggesting it may be limited to Ultra subscribers at first; the launch date is unconfirmed.

A video review argues Meta's new model scores high on benchmarks but performs poorly in practice, and the author hopes Gemini 4 Argon avoids the same fate rather than shipping unfinished.

The poster says Argon is coming today and speculates that Google moved the date up after learning another lab has a stronger model ready to ship.

The poster questions why Google announced Gemini 4 Argon only to sit on it indefinitely, noting that 5.6 was called a paper launch but still shipped within days.

A post says Google has confirmed Gemini 4 Argon will launch tonight, that models below 3.8 have been retired, and that Pro users will get access, though Argon may be weaker than expected.

A user lists possible reasons for the Argon delay: it loses to Opus 5.5, compute is too limited to avoid outages, or it has jailbreak security risks, and notes the gray-release scope has recently widened.

A user relays a rumor that Google may release Gemini 4 Argon today and asks the community what they think.
