Gemini 4 Pro / Flash: benchmarks, hands-on tests and leaks

The poster expected Gemini 4 to be good but did not anticipate such large jumps across several benchmarks, saying Google came out of nowhere with this release.

A Turkish account says Google introduced its new model Gemini 4 Argon, which is reported to have surpassed Claude Fable and GPT-6 Astra in tests.

LMArena data shows Gemini 4 Argon (High) scoring 1525 points at a blended $8 per million tokens, making it the most cost-efficient model and reshaping the Text Arena Pareto frontier.

Google announced Gemini 4 Argon at the same introductory $2/$10 API price as GPT-6.1 Sol, scoring 77.9% on Google's DeepSWE chart ahead of Astra and Opus 5.5, though it is limited to trusted testers and cyber defenders for now.

A leak says Gemini 4 Argon is priced between GPT-6 Astra and GPT-6.1 Sol while reaching Astra-level intelligence, which the poster calls nailed price/performance.

A post says Gemini 4 Argon beats Astra and Opus 5.5 at $2/$10, half of Opus 5.5's $4/$20 and one-fifth of Astra's $10/$50.

Arena data shows Gemini 4 Argon (High) at a blended $8 per million tokens and a 1525 score, reshaping the text arena's cost-performance Pareto frontier.

Artificial Analysis data puts Gemini 4 Argon's hallucination rate at 15%, far below Grok 4.7 at 29%, GPT-6 Astra at 45% and Opus 5.5 at 59%.

A video lists Argon leading on legal tasks at 19.6%, DeepSWE, Vibe Code Bench and GraphWalks, tying Astra at 68% on cybersecurity, with introductory pricing of $2/$10.

The listed scores are Vals Index 68.9%, DeepSWE v1.1 77.9%, Vibe Code Bench 91.9%, RiemannBench 76.0% and GraphWalks 99.7%, with Argon said to lead Opus 5.5, GPT-6 Astra and Fable 5.1 on most of them.

Argon pushed Opus 5.5 to second on Text Arena and is listed at $2/$10 per million tokens, which the author says could make it one of the cheapest frontier models if the price holds at launch.

LuminaBench says Argon scored 53 on the AA Intelligence Index, level with GPT-6 Astra, and sits basically on the Pareto frontier for cost.
