GPT-6 Astra in Practice: Tests, Use Cases, and Feedback

Unconfirmed rumors say GPT-6.1 Terra may be cheaper and stronger than 6.1 Sol, with GPT-6.2 Sol or 6.1 Astra also said to be coming soon.

The authors tested GPT-6 Astra on 12 benchmarks and 8 real-robot platforms, concluding it could saturate most benchmarks given the right harness and budget, though real execution is not there yet.

A short video titled Kimi K3.1 Pro vs GPT-6 Astra with no further text, so the actual comparison is only visible in the clip.

Artificial Analysis scores put Opus 5.5 at 61.7 versus GPT-6 Astra at 54.7 and Sol at 54.1, prompting the author to split grunt work to Sol and complex tasks to Opus.

Kimi K3.1, GPT-6 Astra, Blender MCP and Claude Code each render a volcano from the same prompt, with unedited results left for viewers to judge.

A humanoid control layer on the Unitree G1 uses a GPT-6 Astra agentic layer to convert a single natural-language instruction into interaction contracts covering direction, tracking, compliance and force range, with no task-specific code.

The author had Kimi K3.1 Pro and GPT-6 Astra each model the same six-legged robot, comparing body structure, leg details, camera orientation, and 3D-print export.

Given the same sandworm modeling task, Kimi K3.1 Pro added detailed panels while GPT-6 Astra produced plain grey tubes.

Given the same bee prompt, Kimi K3.1 Pro added hair on every leg, faceted eyes and light-shifting shell, while GPT-6 Astra produced smooth green plastic.

A user complains GPT-6 Astra burns tokens too fast and sees no reason to use it when GPT-6.1 Sol already handles most tasks.

A Google DeepMind and university benchmark of 50 unpublished research-level theoretical physics problems found GPT-6 Astra in Codex solved 49 with web search at under $3 each.

On the same 3D modeling task Astra used 13% quota in 26 minutes while SOL 6.1 used only 4% in 49 minutes, leaving the author questioning Astra's value.
