GPT-6 Astra in Practice: Tests, Use Cases, and Feedback

OpenAI's Thibault Sottiaux replied to a user saying Astra and Jev would probably be best friends in real life, a light exchange about GPT-6 Astra.

A persistent AI world engine powered by Astra gives every character an independent agent that remembers and builds relationships, lets viewers pay to change the story, and keeps running after the stream ends.

In an experiment giving AI control of a robotic arm for dangerous actions like stabbing a doll or putting a screwdriver in a toaster, GPT-6 Astra refused just 2 of 100 times and completed 60 tasks.

The author used Astra with a weaker model to compute normals for a simplified physics animation, noting it is heavy and buggy but the physics is calculated by AI rather than pre-generated.

A video shows a richly detailed Minecraft city built with GPT-6 Astra, which the author cites as evidence it has reached AGI.

The author used Astra to generate a website that tells people not to rush, sharing the full prompt and noting the irony.

The author designed an interactive 3D locations list on iOS using GPT-6 Astra and Fable, with a video demo.

The author lists four areas to try — agentic AI, browser and computer use, frontier models, and context — and says Astra's vision and computer use are clearly better than earlier models.

WatcherGuru reports that Anthropic is considering launching a new Claude model to counter OpenAI's GPT-6 Astra, and is expected to go public in November at an estimated $2 trillion valuation.

The author, initially skeptical, looked more closely at GPT-6 Astra's results in robotics, 3D, CAD and autonomous experimentation and began asking what the capability's limits are and which experiments are needed.

Product Hunt and the OpenAI developer team wrapped up their Astra challenge, with five teams winning $10k in OpenAI API credits and a year of ChatGPT Pro each.

RoundtableSpace shared a short video showing how to make good-quality 3D models with GPT-6 Astra, and suggests bookmarking it.
