GPT-6 Astra in Practice: Tests, Use Cases, and Feedback

A joke post about a Labor Day beach picnic with an all-white dress code, so the author has GPT-6 Astra design a dress in Blender and "mobilizes the global textile industry" to make it overnight.

A creator complains that OpenAI is selling the GPT-6 Astra launch with "creativity" and shares a free 13-minute video on whether AI could make a Dodford-style video.

A developer shares game victory screens generated by Fable 5.1 and GPT-6 Astra and asks viewers which one they prefer.

The author spent over 5 hours having GPT-6 Astra write code for an interactive browser ocean scene, saying the result was better than what Fable and Opus produced.

A researcher used GPT-6 Astra to build a virtual world in Unreal Engine where AI agents lived, and one of those agents then built its own virtual world with more agents inside it.

The author calls Astra undeniably powerful but says it feels less lively, fun, and human than 5.6 Sol in casual conversation, and worries the new model trades personality for capability.

A user asked Astra to analyze Plato's Symposium and Aeschylus's Oresteia, and says it missed the point, invented views he never stated, and used up 78% of his 5-hour quota.

After testing Astra, the author says it falls short of the praise, suspects early-access influencers were paid to promote it, and finds the model degraded in Codex, needing step-by-step spoonfeeding.

The author shares the full prompt used on GPT-6 Astra xhigh, which asks the model to spend 5 to 24 hours building a dense real-time 3D forest in the browser and to keep checking vegetation, lighting and performance.

The author is surprised that Astra produced a 3D camera with 122 component groups and 1,877 modeled pieces, and did not know Three.js could build such models.

The author says Astra generated a complete extraction shooter through Blender and Unity in one shot, faster and with fewer credits than GPT-5.6 Sol, and shares prompting tips.

A joking post thanks OpenAI for releasing Astra, saying Gemini 4 Pro will likely be cancelled and users will have to wait for Gemini 4.5 Pro.
