Is Kling 4.0 worth it? Flash vs the full model, and how it stacks up against Seedance 2.5
Kling 4.0 is worth it mainly on price. In side-by-side tests posted by independent creators, Seedance 2.5 still wins more often, but creators who priced both found Kling roughly 2 to 4 times cheaper. This guide draws on Kling's official user guide and 503 X posts collected Sep 23 to Oct 18, 2026, with every model comparison read by hand.

If cost per clip matters to you, Kling 4.0 is worth trying. If you want the best-looking result regardless of price, Seedance 2.5 still wins more side-by-side tests: of 14 independent creators who compared the two and gave a verdict, 8 picked Seedance, 3 picked Kling and 3 called it split.
Price is where Kling wins. Users report Flash at 6 credits per second at 720p, and the full model at 10 credits per second at 720p or 15 at 1080p. Creators who priced Kling against Seedance 2.5 found it roughly 2 to 4 times cheaper, and 10 to 20 times cheaper for very short cuts on one platform, though one creator using TopView found it only marginally cheaper there.
For Flash versus the full model, Kling's guide caps Flash at 720p and 20 seconds with no keyframes. Flash costs about 60% of the full model at 720p and nearly matched it on simple shots in the one controlled test, while the full model kept more of complex prompts and staged multi-person scenes better. The evidence here is thin: only 9 posts from 7 authors compare the two.
This piece covers Kling 4.0 from Flash early access (Sep 28) to general availability on Oct 15, 2026 (23:00 UTC+8), and posts through Oct 18. 10-bit HDR, two-minute extension and the developer API were still marked coming soon, nobody in the collection reported a 4K price or test, and almost nobody tested Veo or Sora against Kling 4.0.

What Kling 4.0 costs, and how much cheaper it is than Seedance
User reports agree on the credit rates, and every creator who priced Kling 4.0 against Seedance 2.5 found Kling cheaper, but by how much depends on the platform.
Table: What a Kling 4.0 or 4.0 Flash clip costs in credits (user reports)
| Mode | Rate | 10 s | 20 s | 30 s | Seen during launch discount | Reported by (date) |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 4.0 Flash, 720p | 6 credits/s | 60 | 120 | Not available (20 s max) | Same | KANA (Sep 29), Derek Wen (Sep 30), Nokosu (Sep 29), @MireilleDartois (Sep 29), Heather Cooper (Oct 18) |
| 4.0 full, 720p | 10 credits/s | 100 | 200 | 300 | 90 for 10 s, 180 for 20 s, 270 for 30 s | @Chinazhidx (Oct 16), @akazomesirou (Oct 16), Nokosu (Oct 16), Heather Cooper (Oct 18), @onofumi_AI (Oct 16) |
| 4.0 full, 1080p | 15 credits/s | 150 | 300 | 450 | 135 for 10 s, 202 for 15 s, 405 for 30 s | @Chinazhidx (Oct 16), @Naonekozamurai (Oct 17), Mr Perry (Oct 15), TSUBAKI (Oct 16), Ozan Sihay (Oct 16) |
| 4.0 full, 4K | No price reported in the collection |
Sample/method: Numbers copied from user posts in the kling-4 collection (user self-reports, not reproduced; dates UTC+8). Per-second rates worked out by the editor from each post's seconds and credits; several users' figures agree. Discounted figures are about 10% below list. Kling's official user guide gives no credit prices. What a credit costs in cash depends on the plan; see text.
What a credit costs in cash depends on your plan. Mr Perry (@MrPerry1973) worked out that a 30-second 1080p clip (450 credits) comes to $3.17 to $6.00, depending on the plan and on first-month versus renewal pricing; that is his own arithmetic from Kling's monthly prices. Gilles Guerraz (@gillesguerraz) put a 5-second Flash clip at $0.26 on the $25.99-a-month Pro plan, or about $1 for 20 seconds.
Table: How much cheaper than Seedance? It depends on who is counting
| Author (date) | What was compared | Their numbers | Conclusion |
|---|---|---|---|
| Zeto (Sep 29) | Flash vs Seedance 2.5, 720p, 20 s | Flash about ¥12.5/s (estimated); Seedance 2.5 about ¥51/s (average of 10 services) | About 4x |
| Zeto (Oct 7) | 8 s dance, Flash vs Seedance 2.5 on Dreamina | Flash 64 credits; Seedance 720 credits normally, 300 on discount | Credit values differ by service, as the author notes |
| Ksenia (Oct 6) | 3-5 s shots, Flash vs Seedance 2.5 on Higgsfield | Flash 3 s about $0.12, 5 s about $0.21; Seedance 4 s minimum about $1.6-2.4, 5 s about $2-3 | 10-20x cheaper per shot for short-cut edits |
| Gilles Guerraz (Oct 18) | Full model vs Seedance 2.5 | No breakdown | Roughly 2-4x cheaper |
| @agi_aibusi (Oct 16) | Full model, 30 s text-to-video | No breakdown | Under a third of Seedance 2.5 |
| Mark Gadala-Maria (Sep 30) | Kling 4 vs Seedance 2.5 | No breakdown | About a third of the price |
| The Rogue AI (Oct 17) | Used on the TopView platform | 26 s at 720p | Only marginally cheaper than Seedance 2.5 |
Sample/method: Copied from the authors' posts (user self-reports, not reproduced; dates UTC+8). Credit values and plan prices differ by platform, so each ratio only holds for the platform and tier the author used. The Rogue AI's post is in our AI video platforms collection.
Zeto (@ZetoGroovin) posted this side-by-side on Oct 7, 2026: the same character image and depth map driving a hand-dance, Kling 4.0 Flash against Seedance 2.5. In his view Seedance followed the motion more precisely and Flash came close; the frame shows he used the same inputs, not which model is more accurate. (Item: Seedance 2.5 vs Kling 4.0 Flash: dance replication test)
Editor's reading: the advantage is largest on short cuts, since some platforms charge a minimum clip length for Seedance (Ksenia, @nocodejustvibe, cites a 4-second minimum on Higgsfield). On third-party platforms that mark Kling up, the gap can almost disappear, as The Rogue AI (@TheRogueA1) found on TopView with a 26-second 720p clip.
Flash vs the full model: what differs and which to pick
Use Flash to test ideas and for short social clips. Switch to the full model for the final take when you need 1080p, more than 20 seconds, keyframes or a complex multi-person scene.
Kling's user guide lists the official differences. The full model makes 3 to 30 second clips at 720p, 1080p or 4K, with first and last frames and up to 10 keyframes. Flash goes up to 20 seconds at a maximum of 720p and does not support start-and-last frames or multiple keyframes; Kling pitches it for rapid creative iteration. 10-bit HDR and two-minute extension are still marked coming soon.
Table: Posts that ran Flash and the full model side by side
| Author (date) | Test | What the author saw |
|---|---|---|
| Heather Cooper (Oct 18) | Same element references, two 10 s multi-shot prompts, 720p | Nearly the same on simple shots, characters on-model in both; full keeps more of complex prompts. Full 90 credits per 10 s, about 2 min; Flash 60 credits, about 75 s |
| @onofumi_AI (Oct 16) | 20 s five-person dialogue | Full has more deliberate composition, blocking and camera work; Flash still handles Japanese dialogue and motion. 180 vs 120 credits |
| @onofumi_AI (Sep 30, early access) | Full model at 1080p | A step above Flash, very high prompt and reference fidelity; Flash is enough for social shorts |
| @towya_aillust (Sep 29) | Same prompt | Flash caps at 20 s so the same content looks sped up; full is smoother |
| Ozan Sihay (Oct 15, marked as promotion) | Same scene, Flash 720p vs full 1080p | Full looks better and conveys emotion much better; Turkish pronunciation still wrong |
| @hq4ai (Sep 29, invited beta) | Short film on the full model | Full clearly stronger: native 30 s, clearer picture and sound, tighter lip sync, 21:9 |
| Hal (@mukiryokustudio, Oct 16) | Lip-sync on the full model | About 1.5x Flash's credits, worth it |
| gundamsensum (Oct 17) | Long review | Basically the same beyond 1080p and 30 s; 1080p added no quality |
Sample/method: Every post in the kling-4 collection that explicitly compares Flash with the full model (9 posts from 7 authors, Sep 29 to Oct 18, UTC+8), each read in full by the editor; only Heather Cooper's states identical references and prompts. User self-reports, not reproduced.
Heather Cooper (@HBCoop_) posted this comparison on Oct 18, 2026, running the full model and Flash on the same subject references and timed multi-shot prompts. The cover frame shows the setup, not the difference between the two versions. (Item: Kling 4.0 vs 4.0 Flash: cost, render time and reference fidelity tested)
Her test is the clearest controlled one in the collection. Both versions kept the characters on-model across six shots and landed cuts within a tenth of a second of the prompt timings. Flash nearly matched the full model on simple shots, while the full model kept more of the complex prompt. A 10-second clip took about 2 minutes and 90 credits on the full model, against about 75 seconds and 60 credits on Flash.
@onofumi_AI posted this 20-second, five-person dialogue scene on Oct 16, 2026, with the full model on top and Flash below. He found the full model's composition, blocking, eyelines and camera work impressive and said Flash also handled the Japanese dialogue and motion well; it cost 180 credits on the full model against 120 on Flash. (Item: Kling 4.0 vs Flash compared on a 20-second five-person dialogue scene)
Not everyone sees a big gap. gundamsensum (@gundamsensum, Oct 17) called Flash and the standard model basically the same thing beyond 1080p and 30 seconds, said 1080p brought no quality gain, and suggested generating at 720p and upscaling. Note too that the three posts calling the full model much stronger all carry a caveat: two came from an invited beta or early access (@hq4ai and @onofumi_AI) and one is marked as promotion (Ozan Sihay, @ozansihay).
Kling 4.0 vs Seedance 2.5 in side-by-side tests: who wins
On picture and performance, Seedance 2.5 still wins more often. Of the 14 independent creators who gave a verdict, 8 picked Seedance, 3 picked Kling 4.0 and 3 called it split; another 13 authors posted comparison clips without saying which was better.

Sample/method: Side-by-side tests of Kling 4.0 / 4.0 Flash vs Seedance 2.x posted by independent creators in the kling-4 collection (2026-09-29 to 2026-10-18, UTC+8); each read in full by the editor for the author's own verdict, one count per author; clips from 7 platform or vendor accounts excluded. User self-reports, not reproduced.
Table: Kling 4.0 vs Seedance side-by-side tests that gave a verdict
| Author (date) | Kling version | Opponent | Verdict | Author's reason |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Pauldonis (Oct 16) | Full | Seedance 2.5 | Seedance | 11 same-prompt first-take tests (MiniMax H3 too); the gap is not closed |
| Cara (Oct 17) | Full | Seedance 2.5 | Seedance | 12-model kitten test: Seedance 2.5 1st, Kling 4.0 5th, too much blur, body goes soft in fast motion |
| @k_kaori_dododo (Oct 17) | Full | Seedance 2.5 | Seedance | Worse except the room layout; lip sync looks pasted on |
| @AibeginnerR8 (Oct 16) | Full | Seedance 2.5 | Seedance | Kling has richer colour and deeper blacks; Seedance followed cuts, timing and motion more closely |
| Ozan Sihay (Oct 16, marked as promotion) | Full | Seedance 2.5 | Seedance | Still behind on physical-contact fights, but ahead of every other rival |
| Heather Cooper (Sep 30) | Flash | Seedance 2.5 | Seedance | Seedance handled hands and cards best in a shuffle; Flash about 90 s to render vs Seedance's 5 min |
| Jay Nwabueze (Sep 30, Dreamina creator-program tag) | Flash | Seedance 2.5 | Seedance | Seedance well ahead on emotion |
| Zeto (Oct 7) | Flash | Seedance 2.5 | Seedance | Dance from a depth map: Seedance tracks it more precisely; Flash close and far cheaper |
| @haungpower (Oct 18) | Full | Seedance | Kling | Boxing: richer, smoother motion and better physics; some motion blur |
| Mark Gadala-Maria (Sep 30) | Not stated | Seedance 2.5 | Kling | Starting to win in recent tests, at about a third of the price |
| @dave392750 (Oct 2) | Flash | Seedance | Kling | Remake of an older clip: not 'pulled' off course the way Seedance was |
| @akiyoshisan (Oct 17-18, Kling creator-program tag) | Full | Seedance 2.5 | Split | Two sets of 4 themes (image and text to video); no clear winner |
| KANA (Sep 29) | Flash | Seedance 2.5 | Split | Kling hits harder in fights; Seedance more stable overall |
| Dheepan Ratnam (Oct 10) | Flash | Seedance 2.5 | Split | Kling feels more like a real 1989 ad; Seedance has more dramatic lighting; both melt small text |
Sample/method: The 15 posts from 14 independent creators in the kling-4 collection that ran Kling 4.0 or Flash against Seedance side by side and gave a verdict (@akiyoshisan's two posts count once; Sep 29 to Oct 18, UTC+8), each read in full by the editor. Another 13 authors posted clips without a verdict; clips from 7 platform or vendor accounts are excluded. User self-reports, not reproduced.
Cara (@Cara_Mosquito) ran the same prompt, a realistic kitten waking up, across 12 video models on Oct 17, 2026. In her subjective ranking for this sample, Seedance 2.5 came first and Kling 4.0 fifth: a cute look and natural hand-rubbing, but too much blur and a soft body in fast motion. One prompt is not a general ranking. (Item: 12-model kitten prompt test: Kling 4.0 ranks 5th behind Seedance 2.5 and Wan 3.0)
Where creators named Seedance's edge, it was emotion (Jay Nwabueze, @jaynwabueze), hands and small objects (Heather Cooper, @HBCoop_, in a card-shuffle test), physical contact in fights (Ozan Sihay, @ozansihay), following cut timing and motion (@AibeginnerR8), and blur in fast motion (Cara).
@haungpower posted this boxing clip, made in Kling 4.0, on Oct 18, 2026. He found Kling's action richer and smoother than Seedance's with better physics, but noted some motion blur. It is one person's test, not proof of a general advantage. (Item: Kling 4.0 boxing test: better motion than Seedance, ordinary rendering)
Kling's wins: richer, smoother boxing motion (@haungpower), better vocal delivery (Birdseed Studios, @birdseedstudios, an opinion rather than a posted side-by-side), and live-action lip sync one user could not tell apart from Seedance 2.5 (@noel_ai_lab, also an opinion). In this tally the full model fared no better against Seedance than Flash did: Seedance 5, Kling 1, split 1 for the full model, against Seedance 3, Kling 1, split 2 for Flash.
@akiyoshisan posted this on Oct 18, 2026: one start image and one prompt per theme, Kling 4.0 on top and Seedance 2.5 below, first takes only. Across his two posts he said he could not call either clearly better. One first take per theme does not settle which model is stronger. (Item: Kling 4.0 vs Seedance 2.5: four same-image one-shot tests)
Treat this as a small, one-take sample. The clips are first takes picked by the people who posted them, and 3 of the 14 authors with a verdict carry a creator-program tag or a promotion label: @akiyoshisan (Kling creator program), Jay Nwabueze (Dreamina creator program) and Ozan Sihay (marked as promotion).
Problems that keep coming up in user tests
Three problems come up again and again: unwanted background music, softness and blur in fast motion, and uneven text-to-video. These come from individual posts, not measured rates.
Unwanted music was the most specific complaint. @iyamaita and @shisi20241003 both said background music appears even when the prompt says no BGM, and @MireilleDartois had to strip the music out afterwards. Kling's own guide explains why: it recommends no subtitles and no background music as the negative instructions worth writing, because the model may add them by default.
Softness in fast motion came up too: Cara and @haungpower both saw blur in quick action, and gundamsensum complained of plastic-looking skin and poor lip sync. Mode matters: Gilles Guerraz found text-to-video weak, image-to-video better but not at Seedance's level, and video-to-video excellent, with slow generations; @haungpower also recommends image-to-video.
Prompt style matters. OscarAI (@Artedeingenio) found long, detailed Seedance-style prompts were not the best fit for Flash, and shorter, direct prompts like those for Kling 3.0 worked better. @SizeTokyo put it this way: Seedance turns a rough prompt into a polished result, while Kling faithfully reproduces the prompt you write. Against Kling 3.0, AI Girl's Photo Studio (@AI_GIRL_DESIGN) said the graininess in fast motion is gone, dances break down less and audio is much better, and Nokosu (@Nokosu_kansoku) paid 60 credits for a 10-second 720p Flash clip where Kling 3.0 Turbo took 80 with the same image and prompt.
What this evidence can and cannot tell you
There is plenty of first-hand material (311 of 503 posts are the author's own test or comparison), but controlled comparisons are rare and there is almost nothing on Veo or Sora.

Sample/method: All 503 posts in the kling-4 collection (2026-09-23 to 2026-10-18, UTC+8; 113 generic creator-program and coordinated ad posts were removed beforehand). AI classification of every post + hand spot check (25 of 30 agreed). Counts measure discussion.
Promotion was heavy around this launch. Before counting, we removed 113 posts from the collection, mostly generic creator-program praise plus a few coordinated ad posts, and we left out comparison clips from 7 platform or vendor accounts. QFS17 (@riabcevv) also pointed out that the reviews so far were hosted by Kling itself.
Other models barely feature. Seedance appears in 109 posts, MiniMax H3 in 19, Wan 3 in 15, Veo in 4 and Sora in 5 (keyword counts), and no Veo or Sora test gave a verdict. This collection cannot tell you how Kling 4.0 compares with them.
Some things could not be tested yet: 10-bit HDR, two-minute extension and the developer API were marked coming soon, and no one reported 4K results. MCP and CLI access worked from day one, but only with personal paid credits, according to innovaTopia.
Questions and answers
Which one is best, Kling 4.0 or Seedance 2.5?
For output quality, Seedance 2.5 wins more side-by-side tests: 8 of the 14 creators who gave a verdict picked Seedance, 3 picked Kling and 3 called it split. For cost, Kling 4.0 wins, roughly 2 to 4 times cheaper in the posts that priced both. Some creators use both and pick per shot, among them Ksenia and @akiyoshisan.
Which one follows the prompt better, Seedance 2.5 or Kling 4.0?
There is no consistent answer. @AibeginnerR8 found Seedance more faithful to cut timing and motion, @akiyoshisan saw both models complete all four camera moves in one test, and @SizeTokyo felt Kling follows the prompt you write while Seedance polishes a rough one. Kling's guide advises describing what you want rather than stacking negatives.
Is Kling 4.0 Flash just the full model at a lower resolution?
No. Kling describes Flash as the faster, cheaper tier for iteration, limited to 720p and 20 seconds, without start-and-last frames or multiple keyframes. Users disagree on how big the gap is: Heather Cooper found them nearly identical on simple shots and the full model better on complex ones, while gundamsensum called them basically the same beyond 1080p and 30 seconds.
Can I use Kling 4.0 through an API yet?
Not at the time of writing. Posts relaying Kling's launch list the developer and enterprise API as coming soon (@Chinazhidx, innovaTopia, QFS17). Kling 4.0 has been available on kling.ai and through MCP and CLI since Oct 15, and MCP and CLI draw only on personal paid credits.
